Delegate Statement

We have made many strides to decentralize Uniswap governance, such as onboarding student blockchain clubs as delegates and experimenting with meta-governance via our BEN Meta-Delegate.

What do you want to see happen in Uniswap governance over the next year?

  • We want to see a move towards reputation-weighted voting and away from pure token-weighted voting. Such examples would be rewarding voting power to users who vote more frequently or boosting voting power of technical contributors by number of accepted Github commits. This could ensure that active or technical delegates have a way of accruing voting power, not just the delegates with the best marketing capabilities.
  • Delegation is a great step towards this, and the next would be meta governance at the delegate level. Some delegates are educated individuals who vote with all their delegated VP, some have set up representative committees, some run internal polls, etc.
  • Combining meta governance with reputation-weighted voting, supported by the myriad of new DAO tools, could lead to a Renaissance of innovation regarding governance, voting, and representation.

Reasons for wanting to be a delegate: We see the importance for meta governance, and we have the desire, the experience, and the audience to run meta-governance experiments through our delegate.

Skills and areas of expertise: BEN is a global education company founded in 2014, with a decade of building trust from our network. Our exec team has lived through Mt. Gox, the launch of Ethereum, the first DAO, the rise and fall of ICOs, DeFi Summer, the NFT craze, and more. We have seen blockchain projects start, raise, and die, so we know what it takes to succeed and how to listen to the community and the market to build a robust product. Uniswap is evolving, and the DAO needs to guide it intelligently as the space continues to grow.

Past contributions to Uniswap ecosystem and/or demonstrated protocol knowledge (if applicable):

Onboarding blockchain clubs as delegates and connecting them with UNI token holders for their delegations.

Hosting online events on YouTube and Twitter Spaces for club delegates and the greater community to be more educated on important Uniswap issues.

Pushing out calls to vote on important Uniswap proposals via our newsletter of 7k+ and socials of 50k+

What are your views on 3 past Uniswap governance proposals?

  • Uniswap V3 Launch on zkEVM -- We agree, as Uniswap needs to competitively be first to market on new chains with the expiry of the V3 license.
  • Uniswap V3 Gnosis -- We agree, same reason as above.
  • Uniswap Deployments Accountability Committee -- Yes, we need a more standardized way of reviewing launches on new chains.

Top Issues

Meta governance
Meta governance
On meta governance, we believe that delegates should experiment with new ways to internally distribute voting power.
Cross chain deployments
Cross chain deployments
On cross chain deployments, we believe that there is a competitive advantage in being first to market on new chains, especially with the expiry of the Uniswap V3 license, but at the same enough due diligence needs to be performed to since each deployment requires time and resources.
Fee switch
Fee switch
On fee switch, we believe that contributors, including UNI token holders, should be rewarded for contributing to the ecosystem, but at the same time not cannibalizing the system with heavy fees. We have to find the best balance.
